Mansion in May Welcomes Visitors as Doors Open to Designer Showhouse and Gardens

Three Fields in the Borough of Mendham, an elegant Designer Showhouse and Gardens, is open  to visitors as of May 1. You’ll not want to miss this latest incarnation of the Mansion in May, one of New Jersey’s brightest spring outings and the signature fundraising event of the Women’s Association for Morristown Medical Center. Every two (occasionally three) years, the Association presents a splendid home decorated to the nth degree by the area’s best interior and landscape designers.

Three Fields spreads over 36 acres of garden, lawn, ponds and forest, all surrounding a 9000 square foot stone, brick and tile-roofed French manor-style home. The estate combines many architectural elements such as tall, steeply-pitched roofs with dormers, wood casement windows and French doors opening to the green vistas beyond.  The home’s façade combines several conjoined structures, as if the house had been added to over time, all blending together to give the romantic appearance of a centuries-old retreat.

Starting months ago, a team of 29 interior designers and 14 landscape designers and architects and their crews began transforming the home into a spectacular experience where imagination knows no bounds. Today Three Fields glows in its transformation. Wander through rooms with names such as “A Walk in the Clouds” and “Last Glance” or have a seat in the gardens as you watch the
play of water on greenery.

Three Fields was built between 1928 and 1930 by a prominent architect for Benjamin Mosser and his family, who lived there for 20 years before Andrew Fletcher and his family took possession. The Fletchers contributed in many ways to the community over the years.

Lunch in the cafe and shopping in the boutiques in the adjacent carriage house add to the experience of being in a pastoral setting. Tickets are $50, now available online at http://mansioninmay.org for the entire month. Private tours may also be scheduled online.

Don’t wait to plan a visit with your friends and family!
